Pewfell: Live Online Chat this Saturday Afternoon.

Wed Oct 15, 2008, 9:12 AM
This weekend I'm participating in a Live Online chat hosted by RPGLife.com

I'll be discussing Pewfell, answering questions on the characters and world, how I make the strip and fantasy webcomics in general.

The event will take place in RPGLife's Live Chat Tavern, this Saturday, October 18th from 4pm until 6pm Pacific Standard Time (That's 7-9 pm Eastern, 12-2 am in the UK).

You might need to register for a free RPGLife account to get in, but otherwise simply point your browser to:

If you can, please do come by and participate as i've never done one of these before and it would be great to see some of you there.

Thanks

Chuck

Back, bigger and badder than ever

Wed Sep 10, 2008, 2:21 PM
OK, so I've been away from DA for far too long. Been busy working on a ton of projects. one which has been an upgrade to the first volume of the Pewfell Archive. My co-writer, Adam Prosser, and I have been hard at work writing several new stories, I've resurrected some long-retired material from the archives and with the help of colorist Carla Costa have colored it for the first time. We hope this new, expanded edition will provide the perfect entry point to the strip that the series had been lacking for a while now. Starting Monday, I'll be publishing updates 5 days a week for the next couple of months as the new stuff is released. You'll be able to see it all right here.

The Wizards of Ur

Tue Mar 11, 2008, 9:34 AM
A brand new sketch blog for artists Chuck Whelon (Pewfell), James V. West (Pan-Gea), A.P. Furtado(Elf'n'Troll) and Nate Piekos (Atland).

In the ancient lands of Ur there roamed a class of warrior wizards, whose sole mission was to enlighten the world through their arcane scribblings and mystical arts. Pens in hand, swords at the ready, these Wizards of Ur were a remarkable force with unrivaled powers. Their like, it was said, would not walk the earth again until the time of humanity's direst need!

Yes, myself and 3 of the world's leading maestro's of cartoon fantasy comics have decided to combine forces to create the überBlog to destroy all others. The names of my fellow bloggers should be familiar to many of you, but if you're a fan of Pewfell and haven't seen their work then prepare to have your eyes pop out on stalks!

As The Wizards of Ur we aim to provide you with oodles of that mouth-watering, cartoony, sci-fi/fantasy comix goodness that you love. On our feed you'll get to see our latest and greatest art, sketches and comics pages. We'll also all be posting all that other crazy stuff that we used to post on our individual blogs, i.e.: links to stuff we think is cool, long lost drawings from our archives, personal reflections, rants and just about anything else that comes to mind.

Wonderful Wonderful Wondercon

Thu Feb 28, 2008, 2:35 PM
I had a fine old time going to Wondercon this weekend -- it was great to catch up with everyone there, especially Joey Manley and Lisa Jonté and all the good folks who came to the 'ModernTales/Girlamatic' dinner on Saturday. I met several new creators there such as the exceedingly interesting Kelly Hobby and the amazingly talented Leigh Dragoon.

Also there were many familiar faces including Shanennon Garrity, Andrew Farago, Jason Thopmson, Lark Pien and the increasingly famous Gene Yang. I didn't seem to have enough time to talk to all the people I wanted to, and missed seeing loads of others. Still it was a grand old time.

I haven’t been very active around here lately but, as always, going to the show has re-enthused me about the whole webcomics thing.

Not much other news to report; Pewfell continues to update every week, I’m still reduxing Volume 4, but am adding quite a lot of new art as I color it, so I hope you'll stop by pewfell.com and check it out.
